I’ve just posted my review of Guitar Hero II. Here’s a little background information
When I first heard about this game appearing on the 360, I didn’t understand what the fuss was about. I mean, who’s gonna stand around in his (or her) living room with a fake plastic guitar, pressing colored buttons and generally looking like an idiot? Not me…
AJ was very enthusiastic about it though. So we were all making fun of him and his new plastic toy. Then we tried pushing him to bring the game and guitar to our weekly friday afternoon gaming session on the office Xbox 360, so that he could make a fool of himself in public. But he refused (understandably).
Having no other choice, we purchased a copy of Guitar Hero 2 at a nearby store and forced him to show off his guitar playing skills. We were all looking forward to having a beer while laughing our asses off looking at AJ and his plastic guitar.
However, it turned out a little different. We did laugh at him of course and we did indeed have a few beers. But the game looked kinda cool. So we all had a go and got right into it. Everyone was taking turns on the guitar, really doing their best to hit as many notes as possible. It became the longest gaming session we had in weeks (even longer than the first time we tried multi-player Excite Truck).
Next week AJ brought his guitar over too, so we could try the game in multiplayer mode. This worked amazingly well, especially in Face-Off mode. Watching one guy play Guitar Hero is fun, but seeing two grown-ups battling it out on tiny plastic guitars is hilarious. Highly recommended for party situations.
