Adding Comics Manually

The Collectorz.com online comic database is pretty complete, so you will probably be able to add most of your collection using the Add Comics Automatically screen. Just let the program download all issue details and cover images from the central Collectorz.com database.

However, it will happen once in a while that our central database does not include your comic. Or maybe it doesn't even recognize a series at all.

Of course, you can still add those comics to your personal database. This is what the Add Comic Manually screen is for. Open this screen using the 3rd button on the toolbar (or using Edit / Add Comic Manually).

Adding One Comic Manually

This screen is just like the Edit Comic screen that you have probably used already. Only now all entry boxes are empty, ready for you to fill in.

Remember that all fields are optional, you don't have to fill em all. Just enter the data that you think is important. If you want to list just the Series and Issue Number, go ahead. Maybe you can add more data later.
(or maybe our central database will be able to provide the extra details later)

Adding Multiple Comics Manually

When dealing with comics released in a series, many details will be the same for all issues. Like Series, Publisher, Genre, Format, etc... maybe even Number of Page and Cover Price.

Of course, we wouldn't let you enter all that data over and over again, for each and every issue. You probably have better things to do (like reading comics...).

So we created the Add Multiple Comics Manually screen. Use the 2nd button on the toolbar to open it.

This screen is the same as the screen for adding one comic, but here we sneakily added an extra tab page "Issue Numbers" as the first tab.
Here's how add multiple issues for a series in one go:

  • On the Issue Numbers tab, select the range of issue numbers that you want to add. Just enter the first and last issue number in the Start and End boxes, then click Refresh Issue List.
  • In the Issue List, check the checkboxes of the ones you actually own, uncheck the ones you don't own.
  • Now it is time to enter the "shared" details. Go to the Main tab to do so.
  • Here, enter the Series name into the Series field, fill the Publisher field, select the Genre, etc... Make sure you only fill fields that should have the same value for all issues.
  • When you're done, click OK.

And there you are, you have added a range of issues to your database. If you want, you can now add more "issue-specific" details to those entries using the Edit Comic screen.
