Some searches are much slower than others? Why is that?

For most searches, our Collectorz.com online book system can give you the correct result right away, straight from its own database. Those are the fast searches.

However, when the system cannot find the book you are looking for in its own database, it consults several other online sources, like Amazon and lots of national libraries.

That is when it starts being slow. The cool thing is: the results it found elsewhere are then stored in the Collectorz.com database, so the next Book Collector user who does the same search will immediately get his book data. You can see it happen too, just try the same search another time.

Even when our database DOES have your book, it may decide that the stored data may be outdated and go out to check for additional data in other sources anyway. This is how we ensure you always get the best and most complete data.

I own books that do not have ISBNs, can I still add them?

Yes you can, just search by entering Author and Title or Author or Title only.
Book Collector retrieves the data on those books from various online libraries, like the Library of Congress, the British Library, etc...

Our online database system supports books from the "pre-ISBN" era.
Search and add books by Library of Congress Classification Number. The LC Classicification Number is often printed on or inside the book.

In version 6 I can't find how I can select my info sources?

That is what Book Collector 6 is all about :-)

You don't need to select info sources anymore. Version 6 just connects to the Collectorz.com online book database server and that server will automatically connect to Amazon and over 20 national libraries to collect information. It will automatically merge the data from those sources by ISBN and then return it to you, fully automatically.

When I search I never get any results?

Please check the "Show" settings above the Search Results panel and make sure it is set to Show All.

Can Book Collector retrieve the Dewey Decimal and LoC number?

Yes, Book Collector can retrieve and store these classification numbers in your database.

Make sure to search on the region United States though.
