Managing Pseudonyms

Many authors publish their books under pseudonyms. Book Collector 7 has a great new feature that handles these pen names. It does so in such a way, that when you add a new book by (for example) Richard Bachman, it will automatically recognize the author's real name as Stephen King.

Linking Pseudonyms to Real Author

You can link pseudonyms to the Real Author in the Edit Author screen.

You can access the Edit Author Screen through the Tools > Edit Lists > Authors Screen:

or through the Edit > Edit Book Screen:

In the Edit Author Screen, you can easily link a pseudonym to the Real Author, by clicking the Add Pseudonym icon (the little man icon with the green plus-sign) and selecting a pseudonym from the drop-down box that appears.

Note: The Pseudonym must already be in your Author List to be able to select it. You can not type the pseudonym in the text field.

When you've successfully linked the pseudonym to the real author, the Real Author's name is displayed in the Real Author column in the Author List under Tools > Edit Lists > Author.

When a pseudonym is linked to the real author, and you are editing a book (Edit > Edit Book), choose the Author's real name in the left column and the pseudonym in the right.

Folder View

When viewing the authors of your collection in Folder View, books written under pseudonym are automatically grouped under the author's real name. The Book Amok, by Richard Bachman, can be found in the author folder: Stephen King.
