Printing a Simple List
Having your books cataloged in a database is nice and all, but sometimes you just want a printed list, e.g. to take with you to the store.
With Book Collector, creating a simple list of books is... well... Simple!
You can configure the list to your own liking so that it will be printed just the way you want it.
A step-by-step printing guide
Alright then, click the Print button on the toolbar to open the Print screen.
- Top left, you can select which books to print. For now, leave it at All Books.
- Top right, under Sort Order is where you control in which order your books will be printed, e.g. alphabetically by Title, or in reverse Purchase Date order, you decide. Your choices here:
- Have your list the same way your main screen is currently sorted by clicking "Use main screen setting".
- Or click "Custom setting for printing" and see that the "Sort Fields..." button is enabled. Use this button choose the fields you want your list to sort on (Title, Release Year, anything you want).
- Have your list the same way your main screen is currently sorted by clicking "Use main screen setting".
- Next, make sure that the selection on the left is set to List.
- Now you can use the Columns button to select the fields that you want to see as columns in your printed list. This is the most important setting as it determines what your list will look like.
- Under List type, select Single Long List.
- Choose a Report title for this list (e.g. My Book List). This title will appear on page one at the top of your list.
That's it! Check if you have enough paper and ink in your printer and click Print to print your personal list!
