Henk-Jan van der Kamp
First & second line support
Hi, I am Henk-Jan. Born and raised in a small
town near the German border, I kept growing until at the age of 18 I
felt I had to move out. So I spent a year in Canada to work on a farm
and try to decide what study to start. After a try at electronics, and
a year serving in the army, I lived in Maastricht for a number of
years to complete a study in general economics. During that period, I
enjoyed working at the University a lot, and also spent a couple of
years at a large bank as a programmer. Currently I live in Amsterdam,
and enjoy the diversity the city has to offer, no reason to get bored
in this city. I tend to catch a movie regularly, spend quite a bit of
free time behind and "inside" the computer (I actually own soldering
equipment :-) ), like to pretend being a racebiker (only when the
weather is really really really nice) and spend time with my family
who live quite close.
Black gold collector?
Until I moved to Amsterdam, my large basement was always filled with loads of computer
stuff, some more recent than other. It's a shame moving made me throw
most of that out, and looking at Martins CD collection I have to
humbly admit I cannot really consider myself a CD collector either
although I do have quite a few. So what is left? I guess my 12
coffee-machines and coffee-makers do count for something, and yes, I do need
my cup in the morning to get the engine running. It will not likely be
the next addition to the Collectorz.com software series though I
guess. Aside from that, I do still have my first game-computer love, a
Commodore 64 with drive, and hundreds of disks (who did not own one
those days), and compulsively have to buy computer gadgets and tools
every now and then (most of which are completely unneeded).
At Collectorz.com
In July 2006, I got a phone call from Sytske who
spotted my resume online, which I admit to have brushed up just before
that because I was planning to do something else. I had been working
in Maastricht, but was ready to move on and decided the job offered
would likely fit me quite nicely. So in September, my first day at
Collectorz.com had arrived, and I surely have not regretted this step
ever. I am occupied with customer support (by e-mail), manuals and
other support related issues. Up to a certain level this also covers
checking more technical related software issues, software testing and
everything that comes my way. I do enjoy the diversity in my workload,
as well as being in a team that is well balanced and fun to work with,
and see lots of opportunities to develop more skills which is
excellent!
