Athan-Jon (AJ) de Jager
Marketing assistent

Hi, I'm Athan-Jon and always introduce myself as AJ (so I don't need to explain). Born in 1985 (Hoorn) and raised in Enkhuizen, a harbor city about an hour away from Amsterdam. I currently live in Amsterdam, 5 minutes away from the office. It's great! In my free time I love to hang out with my friends anywhere (at home, at a pub). We play quite a lot of poker, for which I built a poker-room in the attic of my parents house :-)
Going to amusement parks is something I quite like I found out in the summer of 2007. I joined a group of 100 people together with a friend of mine. Together with the people of Theme Park Review we went on a coaster tour through the Midwest of the United States of America. We visited about 14 parks in 12 days (including some parks we added on ourselves). It is a whole different holiday experience, but it's great to explore a country through amusement parks (you don't see any, hehe). I'm planning on going with them again in the future, but for 2009 I don't see any China/Japan trips planned, so maybe I'll wait till 2010. I hooked up with some friends from that trip this year to visit parks in the United Kingdom which was pretty awesome as well.
Collector? Hmm. Not really I suppose
I like going to the movies, but also enjoy watching them at home in High Definition format. TV-Series is also a big thing with me, but I've dropped quite some series because I just can't keep up. Maybe when I retire I will rewatch them all! Or not. Hehe. As a movie/series fan I don't own many DVDs or Blu-Rays. Actually my collection is very small. But I have watched a lot of stuff over the years and I keep track of that by voting my movies (and series episodes) on IMDb.Check out my movie collection at Connect.
Whenever I'm not watching many episodes I haven't watched yet, or whenever I'm not watching a movie, I play video games. Some games come before movies and series. I'm currently a big fan of music games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and I'm always looking out to new editions of these games. It's an expensive hobby what with all the peripherals but I find it to be so much fun.

I'm an even bigger fan of the platform Mario games, and my biggest love in games would be the 3D The Legend of Zelda games. When Ocarina of Time hit the N64 I was instantly addicted and always thought it was way too long before a new version showed up. Looking out for a new Zelda, always!
At Collectorz.com
I started working here in February 2006 as a content manager to help build and take care of our own movie and game databases. With my interest in movies and games this of course was no problem and also very interesting. In May 2008 I said my goodbyes to Bitz & Pixelz, to start a career in television. This didn't really work out, so as of October 2008 I returned to the Collectorz.com team.I have a new function right now, as my old job has been taken over by Metal Martin and Rowdy Dog. Together with them we try to find better ways to manage the databases, and think of new strategies to keep up to date with all the new releases. Also I will be checking out statistics to see what users are doing with the databases. I then try to point our database maintenance strategy in the right way according to these statistics.
Also I'm working with Alwin to create Google ads for the content network (banners etc.), I'm making videos for instructional or advertisement purposes and I create custom advertisements for conventions or people who need some images for their piece in an article. Very diverse, a lot of image editing, a lot of fun. I also update our software on shareware sites, maintain testimonials, and update our Facebook with images, videos, etc from time to time. Testing our software is also something I do (on Windows, Mac and mobile devices). During weekends I sometimes manage customer support. As you can see I'm a bit of an allrounder here. And loving it!
